About

The Author and the Trilogy

Andrew loves dramatic and unusual buildings - such as grottoes and follies. Not surprisingly, his trilogy is set in Stowe gardens, north of Oxford. This world-famous and enormous garden is both

wonder - full  and very mysterious...

When Andrew first went there as a teenager, he was astonished by the landscape and its weird and fascinating buildings – the ‘temples.' He has since found out lots more about them - especially their

   amazing secrets...

He was also inspired by 'Mistress Masham's Repose,' an old story by the celebrated T. H. White. In that tale, some tiny people help a young orphan, Maria, to face up to both her nasty guardians. These little folk were actually

Lilliputians from Swift's, 'Gulliver's Travels.’

One reviewer has said that Andrew captures elements from these two great stories to develop the Lilliputian story, creating a

   magical fantasy world

of his own. His style has also been compared

to C.S. Lewis in terms of its appeal

to all ages.
