The Temples of Malplaquet

Joy Calderwood

‘…the stuff children’s daydreams are made of…. entertainment and suspense

a children’s adventure, liberally salted with

magic,

winking with frequent, good-humored digs

that will be enjoyed by parents as they read to their children.’

Adrian Boote, childrens’ author;

It gets on with the business of telling a good story well...

It's a quirky, surreal, fun adventure story...’

'Brilliant children’s books are becoming word-of-mouth classics amongst adults, often even before anyone who could be categorised as a child has clapped eyes on them.…books such as The Temples of Malplaquet need to be treasured. Even in a golden age of children’s fiction… the books worth treasuring are few and far between.’

The Lost People of Malplaquet

Joy Calderwood

   sinister cliffhanger.

There will be no stopping until we have read the final book...

The New Empire of Malplaquet

Frances Wheare

'The Malplaquet books...are

a return to the glorious children's books

found on the dusty shelves of my grandmother's house when I was young.

  Evocatively written, wittily plotted,

there is something in there for everyone...

One of the books many great strengths is the characterisation of the Lilliputians...the clash of cultures provides fodder for some of the

   funniest set pieces...

The books are filled with

   little puns...

  rich detailed descriptions...'
